What is a Professional Organizer?
According to NAPO(National Association of Professional Organizers)
a Professional Organizer "enhances the lives of clients by designing
systems and processes using organizing principles and through transferring
organizing skills".
Someone who helps clients get and stay organized.
How does the process work?
We start with a short(free) phone conversation to discuss your needs
and timing.
We will then schedule either a meeting in your home for a Needs Assessment
or if you are ready to start organizing, we will begin on the first
visit. A Needs Assessment usually takes 1-2 hours depending on the
size of the home and needs. This is billed as a one time flat fee.
After completing the Needs Assessment you choose either a written
action plan which you will implement yourself, this is billed as a
flat fee of $ . or we schedule hourly hands on organizing sessions
in blocks of 3 hours at an hourly rate.
How long does the organizing process
take? Is it like I what I see on TV?
Each project is unique and the time to complete varies with the scope
of the work. GSPofessionalOrganizer books in 3-hour sessions. What
you see on TV is the last hour(s) of a process that took much longer
to plan and is implemented by behind the scenes help such as electricians,
carpenters, painters, designers etc.
What are your rates and how do
you charge?
GSPRofessionalOrganizer charges by the hour in 3-hour blocks. Each
session must be paid in full at the end of the session by cash, check
or credit card(Paypal account).
What about getting rid of things?
Part of the organizing, de-cluttering process is having to make difficult
and often
emotional decisions about what to keep and what to toss. The process
is non-judgmental and you and your belongings will be treated with
respect. GSProfessionaOrganizer will not get rid of anything that
you want to keep — you make all the decisions. HOWEVER, it is
important to be realistic about what it takes to truly simplify and
organize your environment. This is the time to assess what you really
need and want and what can be passed on to someone else by either
selling or donating.
Do I have to be present during
the process?
It is important that you be an integral part of the organizing process.
Organizing is not about stuff and cleaning but about breaking bad
habits and learning, establishing new ones. We want you to learn from
the process so that you can maintain what we achieve. Ideally, we
should work together to make decisions on what you want to toss, sell,
donate, keep, contain or store. Under certain circumstances I may
work alone in your home.
